Women Empowerment Committee (SFBATM WEC)

2021 ஆம் ஆண்டு மார்ச்சு மாதம், செயற்குழுவின் ஒப்புதலோடு அமைப்பாளர் செளந்தர்யா சந்திரன் அவர்களால் மகளிர் மேம்பாட்டுக் குழு (Women Empowerment Committee) துவங்கப்பட்டது.

இக்குழுவின் தொலைநோக்கு குறிக்கோள் வளைகுடாப்பகுதியில் உள்ள மகளிர் முன்னேற்றத்திற்கான தளங்கள் அமைத்து, பல்வேறு நிகழ்ச்சிகளுக்கான வாய்ப்புகளை ஏற்படுத்தி, அதன் வழியே சமூகப் பொருளாதார மேம்பாடு, உடல்நலம், நல்வாழ்வு, பணிபுரியும் நிறுவனங்களில் தலைமைப் பொறுப்புகளை அடைய ஊக்குவிப்பது.

The Women Empowerment Committee was formed in March of 2021 by the then Convener Soundharya Chandran, with the support of the Executive Committee. The multi-fold mission of the WEC is to empower Tamil women in the Bay Area by providing programs, avenues, and materials, that enable social and economic empowerment, promote overall health and wellbeing, and encourage participation in highest positions of power across various sectors and organizations.

Support for Domestic Violence Survivors

முதற்கட்டமாக, NARIKA என்னும் தொண்டு நிறுவனத்துடன் தமிழ்மன்றத்தின் மகளிர் மேம்பாட்டு குழு புரிந்துணர்வு ஒப்பந்தத்தின் (MoU) அடிப்படையில் இணைந்து செயல்படத் தொடங்கியுள்ளது. இதன்மூலம், பெண்கள் எதிர்கொள்ளும் குடும்ப வன்முறை (domestic violence) சிக்கல்களைக் கையாள்வது குறித்த விழிப்புணர்வையும், பாதுகாப்பையும் பெறுவதற்கான வழிகாட்டுதலையும் உதவியையும் வழங்கமுடியும்.

Career Development Workshop

The partnership with Narika resulted in the creation of this 3 day career workshop to benefit primarily women who were willing to return or join jobs during the pandemic times. The beneficiaries were women not only from the Tamil Community, but from other ethnicities as well. This initiative positioned Tamil manram as an organization serving beyond the Tamil Community. The workshop was designed to introduce best strategies for effective job search through a three pronged approach. An expert coach, Mr. Natarajan Shankar, who currently works at Roku, helped the participants explore career options, assess their knowledge, job skills and interests to guide their job search and career planning.
